You can see in this photograph a round green orchid leaf which is approximately 1 cm in diameter. Surrounding it are more than six insectivorous Scented Sundew plants. Add two kinds of moss, some lichen, some dead leaves, grains of sandy soil, traces of insect damage, twigs and more. These are all signs of a thriving biodiverse ecosystem. There are worlds within worlds.

Where Do I Get My Colours?
People seem to be surprised by my colour choices in my paintings. To me, most of them come from the world around me. Now, especially from the bushland. Even this tiny portion of forest floor has yellow green, orange, red, mid green, deep green and browns with touches of purple. It’s all there if you look for details. In my photographs of the bush, I capture natural colours and build up nature’s colour palettes. I’m starting to put these on Pinterest. Follow me there to see new mood boards as I add them.
Here is one for January Wildflowers. Same 15 acres of bushland, but the colours are quite different from those inspired by the forest floor.
