Today I’m one quarter of the way through my 100 Days of Art project. If you’re reading this post on its own, click here to see the entire 25 days, represented by images. Do you notice a theme? 🤣 Once again, the feature image shows leaves, bark and moss. Titled ‘Forest Floor’ this painting in acrylics was the first one I blocked out looking at a photograph I took.
Constructing the Painting
As an intuitive painter, beginning a blank canvas by blocking in forms was daunting. The canvas I was working on was just over 1 meter square, which meant adjusting scale. The photograph was portrait orientation, which meant adjusting proportion. Quite a challenge for me.
Once I had the painting blocked out I decided to use some layering techniques in the style of my intuitive painting. The result is a slightly abstracted portrayal of my photograph.
What Happens Next?
Since completion, ‘Forest Floor’,was the central piece of my open studio for the Golden Plains Arts Trail, and has been exhibited at the Mercure Ballarat as part of the ‘Places’ exhibition. It is listed on my Bluethumb page for sale.
