Tomorrow I throw open the doors of my studio to the public as part of the Golden Plains Arts Trail. The lead up to this has been great, but a lot of work. On Arts Trail eve I’m feeling exhausted but so happy with what I’ve done. If you’re nearby, I’d love to see you and chat about art.
Here’s a short video showing the gallery wall. The other half of the studio is dedicated to textiles, so there is a lot to see.
Textiles, Paintings and Photographs
In setting up for the Golden Plains Arts Trail, I am reminded how my approach to creative work blends mediums. A photograph may be a print, but it may also be used in digital art or fabric design. A painting can be a tea towel or a quilting panel. Hand printed works can be digitally incorporated into many forms, and many colourways for fabrics, or digital art. My approach is very fluid.
The ‘Gumnuts’ fabric panel in the photograph below is also a tea-towel. It began life as a photograph which I took on our property. I wanted to bring out some of the forms without the image being cluttered. As you can guess, I love colour. This design is also available as an inkjet printed panel in shades of deep red and olive green.

The Spirit of Community
As artists, those of us participating in the Golden Plains Arts Trail do want people to see our creative work. We also hope to make sales. However, at the core is a desire to bring together the creative community in our region. Golden Plains Shire is quite large and the artists are distant from each other. It’s wonderful to have an event which enables us to find each other and connect.
The community group which organises the Golden Plains Arts Trail is run by volunteers. The Committee puts a lot of time into making the Arts Trail as good as it can be. In the end it is an annual celebration of arts and artists in the Shire.
100 Days of Art
Tomorrow will be my 100th post in the series 100 Days of Art. I will feature photographs taken over the first day of this year’s Golden Plains Arts Trail. I hope to see you there!
