This year, at my open studio, I only have a few scarves for sale. I love the designs, but I want to transition from RedBubble as the printer, to having a different manufacturer. One reason is that I want to have scarves printed on natural fibres. Unfortunately, RedBubble only prints scarves on microfibre polyester. While this is soft and beautiful to wear, I am making an environmental, sustainable choice here. Printing scarves on natural fibres will take them to the next level, and that feels exciting.
A second reason is that I want to start hand printing and painting my scarves as well.
Over the years I have sold many scarves, and I wear them myself. There is nothing like wearing a design of my own creation. Just yesterday I had an appointment with my GP. Sitting in the waiting room, one of the medical staff came over, saying loudly “and here is the lady who makes beautiful scarves”. Wow!

Why Scarves?
In the 1970’s, I was a teenager when it was cool to wear long colourful scarves and maxi-skirts with flowing cotton tops. I never really stopped wearing scarves. The style changed over the years, but the love of wearing some beautiful colours and designs never went away. When I first decided to try making a design for fabric, scarves were a natural choice.
You can still buy my scarves through Redbubble until I find a new way of printing them. Here is a link to all of my scarf designs on Redbubble if you can’t make it to the studio.
